The same can't be said about the two bigger DLCs, Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm, they add mechanics that are fine but each of them have ONE major downside that basically make it so they're not worth getting. Though when you are learning the game it's best to take it slow, aka start with the base game for like 2 games, and once you get the base mechanics then move to dlc (select gathering storm ruleset). I also recommend watching youtubers like PotatoMcWhiskey (not latest series, that one's heavily modded), they are very educational.
